The South Bear Creek Ball Complex is a top quality facility. This area has become the focal point in encouraging and developing the sport of softball in the area. The complex is maintained by the South Peace Ball Association.
South Bear Creek Park is located at the southern end of Muskoseepi Park and was completed in 1986 with the cooperation of two levels of government, thousands of volunteer hours and numerous community donations and sponsorships. It is considered by many to be one of the premier parks in Canada.
The first stage saw the completion of three fenced and shaled diamonds complete with dugouts, electronic score clocks, bleachers, and a pavilion containing umpires change rooms, concession, washrooms and showers. A batting cage is also located on site. In 1995 a major expansion took place with the construction of seven more diamonds across the road from the main complex. Beach ball volleyball courts, a field hockey pitch, and soccer fields have since been added, some of them for the Alberta Summer Games which were held in 2000.
Since 1997, the major complex has been upgraded with lighting, media boxes, a medical building, and enclosed bullpens. The two main tournament diamonds have permanent grandstand seating for 500 people. The site also has one permanent concession, one mobile concession and two golf carts. There is also an enclosed beer garden, a picnic centre and fully serviced RV sites. Click here to see a map of the complex.
