Can I smoke cigarettes at the South Bear Creek facility?

**New for the 2009 season**

Please respect the health and safety of others.

Smoking is not allowed in the dugouts or on any baseball diamond.

You can smoke next to the dugouts or in the bleachers.

New ashtrays are installed on the exteriors of each dugout at SBC.

Please place your cigarette butts in the provided containers.

This will help keep the park tidy and reduce the volunteer hours it takes to clean up cigarette butts throughout SBC.

Our team would like to practice on a diamond? What do we do?

Please book and pay for your usage. Maintenance and upkeep on a diamond is required after your practice.

Practice Diamond is $30.00 for 1.5 hours.

Includes SBC, Parkside, College & Leisure Centre diamonds.

Fine for using a SPBA diamond without a practice permit is $50 per team.

Can our team warm up on the infield before our game?

Teams should not be warming up on the infield.

Warm ups should take place on the grass outfield only.

This helps keep the diamonds in a better condition for game play and costs down for everyone.

The lights aren’t on for my evening game. What do I do?

Staff should be on site to turn on the lights for evening games.

Can we drink alcohol on the diamonds, bleachers, dugout or in the parking lots?

The RCMP will be patrolling SBC and issuing $200 fines for illegal alcohol.

Drinking of illegal alcohol puts SPBA at serious risk of losing their liquor license.

SPBA depends on a valid liquor license to raise funds in the Beer Gardens that support improvements at our facility.

Without a liquor license, thousands of dollars would be lost for our non-profit group as well as the convenience of stopping for cold beer after a game for everyone.

Help support your diamonds and facility, leave your alcohol at home.

What happens if my game is rained out?

If there is heavy rain or hail, or puddles forming on the diamonds they should not be played on.

Only play on the diamonds is weather permits.

Using a diamonds in inclement weather may do permanent damage which can cost thousands of dollars to repair.

SPBA is a nonprofit, volunteer based organization. We need all available funds to make the facility better for everyone, not for making expensive, preventable repairs.

If your game is rained out, please call the other team captain to confirm. Then HOME team captain should call the office as soon as possible to schedule a makeup game.

What is the home run rule in Labatt’s Mixed Slo-Pitch?

There is a home run limit rule within the Mixed Slo-Pitch league.

Each team is allowed to hit 3 home runs.

Once both teams have 3 home runs, each team is able to have no more than 1 home run more than the opposing team.

For example, if your team has 3 home runs and the opposing team only has 1; your team is not able to hit any further home runs until the opposing team reaches their 3. Or, if your team has 3 home runs and the opposing team has 3 home runs; your team is only allowed to hit 1 home run until the other team hits one.

During the bottom of the last inning (7th), the home team is not able to hit more home runs than the opposing team already has.

For example, the visiting team has 4 home runs and the home team has 4 home runs; the home team cannot hit a home run in the final inning. Or, the visiting team has 4 home runs and the home team has 3; the home team can hit 1 home run in the final inning.
